Faux Real in the press

‘equal to Justin Bond’s best endeavors…her revelatory and inspirational show Faux Real deploys Trannyshack-schooled drag, pro athlete caliber dance, and first-person dialogue to mine diamond truths about the relationship between women and gay men. It’s on a par with the 1990 film version of Sandra Bernhard’s Without You I’m Nothing…. If such references send your fagometer off the charts and you’ve missed Faux Real, for shame, child. But if they mean nothing to you, Jenkinson is must-see because of her technical excellence, ability to create beauty, and rare personable flair for drama.’ – Johnny Ray Huston, SF Bay Guardian (more)

Dear Friends,

I am so very pleased to announce that my solo show Faux Real with Fauxnique is running in London!

We play two dates as part of the Hot August Fringe Festival at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern August 16 & 20. If you are in London or know people who are, send them to the show (get your tickets here).

Next, it’s over to the Edinburgh Fringe to see some shows and to take part in an evening with the Magic Faraway Cabaret. The theme is ‘Banarnia’ (yes, that would be Bananas + Narnia). Kind of sounds like home…

Then in early September Singular Sensation returns to the Paradise Lounge, and in late September Faux Real with Fauxnique returns to the Climate Theater!

I look forward to seeing you in the audience, on the dance floor, and across the pond.

Trannyshack’s tribute (above) to goth queen Siouxsie Sioux was fabulous. Have you ever had that ‘Jigsaw Feeling’ ?

Dear Friends,

Welcome to my new website!
Big thanks to the talented (and patient) Yann Novak for his elegant design.

And many thanks to everyone who made all of this work possible, especially Loren Robertson and her video skills, and my talented (and very patient) husband, Marc.

Here’s my news:

Singular Sensation

Still musing on fond memories of that time someone taught you the Hustle? Then you will LOVE Singular Sensation!

I am hosting a dance party with DJ Husband, Singular Sensation, for which we bring to SF legendary Los Angeles dance phenomenon Ryan Heffington (as seen on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, and who has worked with the Gossip and Peaches). Featuring DJ’s Stanley Frank (Vienetta, Chilidog) & Pee Play (Honey Soundsystem)
I went to Sir Heffington’s club, Fingered a couple of years back in LA – same format: sweaty dance class followed by exuberant dance party – and watched every ounce of cynicism drain from my body. Join me.

Thursday June 3rd 10PM – 2AM     DANCE CLASS AT MIDNIGHT        Paradise Lounge (1501 Folsom St. @ 11th, SF)    $6

Thread Bare

On June 11th, I walk the runway in Threadbare, the Lab’s annual fundraiser/striptease/auction. Innovative local designers auction their clothing straight off the models’ bodies. For ART.

Friday June 11, 7-10PM, the Lab (2948 16th Street @ Capp, SF) $10-20

Werk Hard

The next night I…Werk Hard! (A Drag Exploration)

Vivvyanne Forevermore curates an experiment in collaboration as part of the National Queer Arts Festival.

‘With cross-pollination of technique, style and personal histories as the goal, each pair has created two new numbers, and documented their processes. What will fauxqueen and Best of the Bay winning performance artist FAUXNIQUE and fierce sensation baby ELIJAH MINNELLI possibly come up with?’
It’s a one time showing! Buy tickets here

Fabulous Press

And finally,  in addition to all of the amazing accolades and honors I have received this year (a GOLDIE for performance and Readers’ Poll award for drag, both from the SF Bay Guardian, and 7×7 Magazine’s Hot 20 Under 40) I was chosen as Best Performance Artist in the SF Weekly’s Best of 2010. I also finally made it into in the society pages.

Well, thank you!

And many thanks to all of you.
